Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) is used to treat people with mental health problems. In direct ECT, an electrical current is passed through an individual for between 0.5 and 1.5 seconds. The body is thrown into frank epilepsy like seizures. This paper argues that there has to be a public debate about direct ECT in India
