BEMFAM is a social action orientated, non-profit, NGO. Its mission statement is to defend the right of men, women and teenagers to receive education and assistance in sexual and reproductive health, and to a free and informed choice on family planning. Affiliated to the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) since 1967, BEMFAM provides services in a large geographic nationwide area, with six clinics, nine State programmes in reproductive health, two Microbiology Laboratories and three Citopathology Laboratories
