Aims: To promote facilities for college education for national health manpower requirements. To provide consultancy services on health and related areas. To develop health trainers who can effectively teach, conduct operational research, develop relevant and usable health learning materials and manage health training institutions. To play an effective role in the development and expansion of opportunities to continiue with education

ESCWA provides a framework for the formulation and harmonization of sectoral policies for member countries, a platform for congress and coordination, a home for expertise and knowledge, and an information observatory.

ESCWA activities are coordinated with the divisions and main offices of the Headquarters of the United Nations, specialized agencies, and international and regional organizations, including the League of Arab States and its subsidiary bodies, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

ESCWA comprises 18 Arab countries:Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, the State of Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Sudan, the Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen

Physicians for Human Rights - Israel is a not-for-profit organisation comprising of some 300 physicians, medical professionals and human rights activists, whose aim is to ensure equal adequate health services for all people under Israeli responsibility, irrespective of race, nationality, language, legal status, health condition, age, or any other premises. PHR - Israel works via direct intervention and advocacy to provide equal services for Palestinians, migrant workers, detainees, prisoners and female victims of domestic violence as well as working to afect general health policy in Israeli law. The PHR - Israel library is opoen to the public. They also run an open clinic for migrant workers

CABI's mission is to help improve human welfare worldwide through the dissemination, application and generation of scientific knowledge in support of sustainable development, with emphasis in agriculture, forestry, human health and the management of natural resources, and with particular attention to the needs of developing countries. The CABI resource centre is open to the public

THET assists those who are responsible for training health care workers in the poorer countries of the world to reach their goals, so that they are able to prepare those who are being trained in the most appropriate and effective way for the tasks that they will be called to do, relevant to the needs of local communities. THET works with institutions and does not respond to individual applications for help. Much of the work of the Trust is to enable individuals to reach their goals set for them in the context of their home University or other instituation. To work with partners in Africa to strengthen healthcare training. By responding to their needs and working over long time scales we aim to help our partners to achieve their goals. Our work builds on the existing infrastructure and compliments the efforts of health authorities. We have been established for 15 years and have long term relationships with health institutions and professionals in over 8 african countries and with more than 18 UK hospital trusts.
